May 11, 1964
Members of the City Council present were:
Mayor A. J. Airoldi
Mayor Pro-Tem Bill Hamilton
Councilmen Ed Rhodes
W. D. Oradat

Councilman Tippitt arrived at 9:35 p.m.
Mayor Airoldi called the meeting to order. Councilman Oradat gave
the invocation.
SANITARY SEWER TO SERVE INWOOD INDUSTRIAL AREA (METROPOLITAN)
Mr. Olin Humphries and Mr. Jim Merritt of Cotton Belt Railroad
Company were present to discuss serving the Inwood Industrial Area
with utilities and the Cotton Belt paying the city on a pro rata
basis.
After discussion Councilman Upfield moved, City to design, let con-
tract and install the sanitary sewer line and the Cotton Belt will
repay the City by pro rata as the area is developed; seconded by
Councilman Oradat, all voting "ayes".
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS SANITARY SEWER PROJECT
Councilman Rhodes moved, advertise for bids for the sanitary sewer
to the Inwood Industrial Area, seconded by Councilman Oradat, all
voting "ayes".
RESOLUTION - CHECK FROM CIVIC LEAGUE
Upon a motion by Councilman Rhodes, a second by Councilman Hamilton,
all voting "ayes", a resolution was passed in appreciation of a check
for $600.00 presented by Mrs. Juanita Orman of the Civic League.
This money to be used for the sprinkling system in Don Showman Park.
NAMING OF PARKS
Councilman Oradat moved, refer to Park Board the naming of all unnamed
parks in the City and suggestion for renaming Rawhide Creek Park;
seconded by Councilman Rhodes, all voting "ayes".

ZONING AREA RECENTLY ANNEXED FROM DALLAS
Councilman Hamilton moved, instruct the Plan Commission to hold a
public hearing to place zoning regulations and classifications on
the property recently disannexed by Dallas and annexed by Farmers
Branch in the Rawhide Creek and Farmers Branch Creek drainage area.

COUNCILMAN TIPPITT ARRIVED
VALWOOD PARKWAY EXTENSION - WEST
Mayor Airoldi had invited board members of the Carrollton,- Farmers
Branch Independent School District, the City Council of Carrollton
and Dr. L. S. Thompson to meet with the City Council of Farmers
Branch to discuss the extension of Valwood Parkway to the new High
School stadium from Stemmons Freeway.
Mayor Airoldi proposed to the four factions that they join in Con-
structing Valwood Parkway into a completed parkway. This major
thoroughfare would benefit all factions concerned and will eventually
have to be constructed.
After much discussion Councilman Upfield moved, the City of Farmers
Branch to participate by paying one-fourth the cost of the 30-foot
paved strip of the south lane, seconded by Councilman Oradat, all
voting "ayes".
Mr. Linn, President of the School Board, spoke in favor of the pro-
ject and said that they will take this action back to their Board of
Trustees and they will take action at their next regular meeting.
Dr. Thompson said he would accept the offer from Farmers Branch and
was agreeable to the proposal.
Mayor McInnish, Carrollton, said that they were not in a position to
take action, he would like to have a full Council.
PURCHASE OF WATER METERS
Councilman Rhodes moved, purchase $977.28 of Water meters out of the
pro rata fund, seconded by Councilman Upfield, all voting "ayes".
ORDINANCE NO. 480 - FIRE STATION PROJECT NO. FS-8
Upon a motion by Councilman Rhodes, a second by Councilman Oradat,
all voting "ayes", the following captioned ordinance was passed:
AN ORDINANCE SETTING FORTH AN ESTIMATE OF THE COST OF A 250 G.P.M.
BOOSTER PUMP AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE THEREOF OUT
OF THE FIRE STATION BOND FUND UNAPPROPRIATED SURPLUS.

And that the present 1947 Truck would be placed in reserve and
that no money be spent to recondition it without express permission
from the City Manager. The only money being authorized at this
time was that needed for ordinary maintenance.
