1958-07-14 CC Minutes1 MINUTES OF A REGULAR FETING BOARD OF COUNCILMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS JULY 14, 1958 The City Council convened in special session at 7:30 P14. at the City Hall on July 14, 1958 with the following present: Mayor Pro Tenn Councilmen City Manager City Secretary Thotaas Reeder H. N. Mallon John Wilsey Oley Attebery Don Knox John Gray Naomi Goodnight Mayor Pro Tem Reeder called the meeting to order. The invoca- 1 tion was brought by Councilman Wilsey. ZONING CASE Z-9-5$ Several propery owners were present to discuss zoning case Z-9-58. The council explained to these owners that it had just been learned by the council that this property in question was under a 20 year residential deed restriction and could not be changed to clinic zoning; because of the restriction. HOLLIN REPORT City Planner Hollin discussed the five zoning cases which will be heard by the Council on July 2$, 1958. O'Neal Final Estimate The Council approved the final payment to O'Neal Const. Co. for street improvements and storm drains in portions of Richland St. and Bee St. The final bill was $17,095.79. 1 JUNIOR OLYMPIC DAYS PROCLAMATION Mayor Lawson Lewis issued a proclamation concerning the Junior Olympics at the request of the Jaycees. July 17-18 were set aside as Junior Olympic Days in Farmers Branch. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. ,rte' CITY SECRETARY / , MINUTES OF A REGULAR M3ETING BOARD OF COUNCILMEN FARMERS BPANCH, TEXAS JULY 21, 1958 The City Council met in a regular meeting on July 21, 1958 at 7:30 P.M. at the City Hall with the following present: Mayor Pro Tem Councilmen City Manager City Engineer City Attorney City Planner City Secretary Thomas Reeder H. N. Mallon Don Knox Oley Atteberry John Gray Bob King Louis Nichols Bob Hollin Naomi Goodnight Mayor Pro Tem Reeder called the meeting to order. The invocation was brought by Councilman Oley Atteberry. The minutes were then read and approved. On a motion by Councilman Mallon, duly seconded by NIr. Atteberry, the council unanimously agreed to allow the mayor, the engineer, and the attorney to draw up an agreement to allow Mr. Wilcox to tie a 200 ft. extension on to the City of Farmers Branch sewer line at his own expense. This line will extend into the City of Dallas, but Mr. Wilcox will play the City Of Farmers Branch at City of Farmers Branch rates according to the amount of water used from City of Dallas. This agreement is subject to approval by the council at a later date. It was understood that the agreement would terminate at such time as City of Dallas extended sewerage past Mr. Wilcox's property. On a motion by Mr. Atteberry, duly seconded by Mr. Knox, the 1 council agreed to contact Cates Corporation, telling them that the City of Farmers Branch will buy land included in proposed Rawhide Creek Parkway as included in previous agreement with Cates, and will pay for the land as soon as the City of Farmers Branch bonds can be sold for that purpose. Following a report by Mr. Atteberry concerning the tremendous success of the Junior Olympics, the council authorized the City Manager, Jack Gray to write a letter of commendation to Nolan Poovey, Recreation Director, and his entire staff for the manner in i4hich the meet was conducted. Mr. Atteberry also suggested that it would be advisable for the city to adopt official city colors within the next year. The council appointed a committee of three, Mr. Knox, Mr. Atteberry, and City Manager Gray to review furniture requirements for the new community building. On a motion by Mr. Mallon, duly seconded by Mr. Atteberry the council authorized City Engineer Bob King to study the drainage problem involved in meeting standards for the proposed loop off new Highway 77. The cost of this study is not to exceed 300. The council approved a letter from Mr. Powell of Uvalde Const. Co. thereby accepting Candelwick Street. The council approved a bill, estimate #1 from Elm F'orpt Const. Co. for $28,686.96 and an engineering fee for Mr. Rady of 602.43. Mr. Hollin reported on the pre-plat for the newest addition of Johnson Park. Mr. Molkup of Public Administration Service reported on several important problems found in the City administration.
