1958-07-28 CC MinutesMINUTES OF REGJLAR MEETING BOARD OF COUNCILMEN FARRIERS BRANCH, TEXAS JULY 28,1958 The City Council met in a special hearing of Planning and Zoning on July 28, 1958 at 7:30 P.M. at the City Hall with the following present: Mayor Pro Tem Thomas Reeder Councilmen H. N. Mallon Don Knox City Manager John Gray City Planner Bob Hollin The following action was taken: 1. Council approved the recommendation for residential R-10 zoning for all of Brookhaven Estates as requested by developer Fritz Hawn. No one opposed this request; 2. Centennial Construction Co.'s request for residential R-7.5 zoning for Chapel Hill No. 3 (near the William Cabell School) was given a favorable recommendation by the Planning and Zoning Commission and was approved by action of the Council. No opposition appeared; 3. A new zoning classification providing for residential R-8.7 size lots was created by the Council and all the area north of Rawhide Creek was zoned to conform with the requirements of this classification; 4. Permanent zoning of Brook Hollow Estates recommended to be residential R-1 acre was opposed by Mr. and Mrs. Fincher who pointed out to the Council that other larger lots had been divided prior to Brook Hollows annexation to Farmers Branch. Mr. Fincher admitted, however, that by splitting his property (Lot 31) the lots created would be the smallest in the addition. The council approved the recommendation for R-1 acre zoning; 5. Most of the property owners in Sunbeck Circle were either present of represented at the hearing as the Council considered the recommended R-1 acre zoning for that area. Mr. Large spoke in opposition to the recommendation and produced a petition signed b-y his supporters. Attorney Shirley Peters represented those owners who favored the R-1 acre classification. of After a lengthly debate during which both sides were given an equal and fair opportunity to present their arguments, the Council approved the recommendation for residential R-1 acre zoning for Sunbeck Circle.
