MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF
BOARD OF COUNCILMEN
FA HERS BRANCH, TEXAS
MAY 6, 1957
The City Council met in a regular meeting on May 6, 1957, at the City
Hall with the following present:
Mayor Pro-Tem.
Councilmen
City Mgr.
City Secy.
Thomas Reeder
Janes Brodhead
Dewayne White
John Wilsey
John J. Gray
Naomi Goodnight
Mayor Lawson Lewis and Councilman H. N. Mallon were absent.
The invocation was brought by Rev. Joseph Rand Jr., Pastor of
Covenant Presbyterian Church.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem. Reeder. The minutes

were read and approved as read.
ENGINMIS & CONTRACTOR'S ESTIMATES
The estimates mow due and payable on the Sewer Lift Station are:
Contractor's Estimate #5 - $12,542969
Engineer's Estimate #6 - $ 686.02
The Council approved payment on these estimates on a motion by Councilman

Brodhead,q seconded by Councilman White.
ENGINEERS CONTRACT
On a motion by Councilman Brodhead., seconded by Councilman Wilsey, the
Council unanimously approved an engineering contract with Joe J. Rady & Co.
of Fort Worth. This company will act as consultant engineers for the city.
ELECTRIC POWER RATE REDUCTION
The Council approved a reduction in electrical power rates submitted
by Texas Power & Light Company. Ordinance #133 was presented to the Council
reducing the electrical minimum bill from $1.00 to 90¢. This motion was
made by Councilman Brodhead, seeded by Councilman White.
CITY TELEPHONE DIRECTORY
Mr. James Gott and Mr. Dan Regan of the JC's met with the Council to
get their approval of a project to make city telephone directories for the

Farmers Branch residents. The Council agreed with the JC's that this was
a very good project.
FINANCIAL REPORT
City Manager Gray gave the Council a brief summary of the city's finan-
cial condition at mid year. Budget adjustments will be made at the next
Council Meeting.
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
The Board of Equalization will meet May 14, 1957, for the 1957 tax year,
Chairman George Hixon reported to the Council.
SEWAGE ON ALBEMARLE
Councilman White reported that several lateral lines and a sewer main
on Albemarle had been washed out by the recent hard rains. Water and Sewer
Superintendent Lyman Goodnight had started repair work on these lines as of
this date.
GARBAGE CANS
The Council discussed the problem of residents removing their garbage
cans from the street front after the trucks had made a pick-up. There was
no definite action taken on this matter.
ZONING ORDINANCE PUBLIC HEARING
The Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman, George Hixon, reported to
the Council that the public hearing on the new Zoning Ordinance would be
held on May 23, 1957, 7:30 P•M., at the City Hall.
PARKS
The Council took under advisement a contract prepared by Louis Hexter,
concerning park property from Cato Corporation. They wanted to defer action
until they had looked at the park site.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:25 PM.
