The City Council met in a regular meeting on August 5, 1957 at 7:30 P. M.
at the City Hall with the following present:

Councilmen Thomas Reeder
Janes Brodhead

George Hixon
City Manager John J. Gray
City Secretary

Councilmen H. N. Mallon and John Wilsey were absent.
The invocation was brought by Rev. W. B. Carraway, Pastor of First
Baptist Church.
The minutes were read and approved as read.
VALLEY VI3"4 SHOPPING CENTER PLAT
On a motion by Councilman Brodhead, seconded by Councilman White, Hubert
McQueen was advised by the council and Louis Nichols, attorney for the city,
to bring a certified plat of the,site plan for the Valley View Village Shopping
Center and present the certified plat , establishing ownership, to the council
in order to validate the shopping center classification. Mr. McQueen
promised to comply with the request by the next council meeting.
ORDINANCE ON M.K.T. RAILROAD GROSSING ON HIGITWAY x#77
The ordinance on removing the M. K. T. Railroad Spur Track across Highway
#77 was discussed but no action was taken by the council.
CITIZENS C01,11MITTEES
The City Council approved a list of 24 important problems that need
immediate study by citizens committees. The problems for which committees
are being formed are as follows:

4 Parks- Types and locations
5 Swimming Pool - Size and location
6 Recreation Program
7 Four City Planning - Dallas, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, and Addison

ELECTRICAL CODE CO?MITTEE
On a motion by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman White, the
council approved the following men to serve as the Electrical `ode Committee.
They are: Oran Good
Howard Johnson
J. W. Culpepper
Roy Norvell
Building Inspector R. G. Gentry and City Manager Gray are to work with this
committee.
PUBLIC HEARING ON ZONING MAP AND ORDINANCE #137
Zoning Chairman George Nixon reported that the Planning and Zoning
Commission will turn all recommendations over to the council after their public
hearing on Aug.6, 1957, on the ne,,# zoning map and new zoning ordinance. The
City Council then scheduled a public hear n<g on Aug. 23, 1957, at 7:30 P. M.
at the City Hall.
1957-58 BUDGET
Manager ray reported that the 1957-58 budget would be in the council's
pocession before Aug. 15, 1957.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
