1957-10-21 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A RFPGULAR ME13TTIG BOARD OF COUNCILMEN FARM'TRS BRANCH, TEXAS OCTOBER 21, 1957 The City Council met in a regular meeting on October 21, 1957 at 7:30 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Dawson Lewis Councilmen Thomas Reeder John Wilsey Dewayne White City Manager John J. Gray City Secretary Naomi Goodnight Planning & Zoning Chairman George Hixon Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order. The invocation was brought by W. S. Stringer, Patrolman for the City. ENGINEERIS REPORT Engineer =o King of the Joe J. Rady Co. reported to the Council on the Water Mains, Sewer Mains, Storm Sewer, Street Paving and the new Zoning Map. The Council accepted the zoning map after Vhairman. Ueorge Hixon looked the map over and approved it as correct. The Council informed Mr. King to make two dozen smaller zoning maps about half the size of the master map. The Council asked Mr. King to check the drainage on 'pring Valley Road and repott to Mr. Gray the results. ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS ON WATER MAIMS. STORM SEWER & STREET IMPROV&vIENTS On a motion made by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman Wilsey, the council approved advertisements for bids on (1) Street Improvements and Storm Drains in portions of "ichland Street; and (2) A 16 inch Water? Feeder Main in Spring Valley Road and Valwood Parkway. These sealed proposals will be received by the City of Farmers Branch in the City Hall until 2:P. M. , Monday, 14ovember 18, 1957 at which time they will be opened. The advertisements for bids are to published two consecutive weeks in the official paper of the City of Farmers Branch, Texas. BIDS ON TWO Pfl;,ICE CARS On a motion b:~ Councilman Wilsey, seconded by Councilman Reeder, the City Council approved and awarded the lowest bid to Vandergriff Chevrolet Co. of Carrollton for two police cars in the amount of $1638.30. 9o E. E. FARRCW CO. FINAL PAYMENT ON CONTRACT After Engineer o King repot e o e Council that E. E. Farrow Co. had repaired the sunk in places in water and sewer lines laid by their com- pany, Councilman Reeder then made a motion to pay their final estimate #16-A in the amount of $507.01, also Eng. Joe Rady's fee in the amount of $30.11. Councilman White seconded thid motion. The council approved unanimously. ARCHITT'= WITCHELL 19 STATT~P4ENT On a motion made by Councilman White, seconded by Councilman Wilsey, the council approved payment to Architect Charles Witchell in the amount of $4299.90. SWIMMING POOL COMMITTEE Marshal Curry, J. C. Taylor and Howard Tieman, members of the Swimming Pool Committee, met with the Council and discussed a site for the proposed swimming pool. After much discussion about the different park sites and the best site for the pool, the Council decided to check into two other places in the City thit would make beautiful parks. 1"layor LetitiTis is to contact the property owners to see if either site is for sale.
