BOARD OF COUNCILMEN
FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS
DECEMBER 2, 1957
The City Council met in a regular meeting on December 2, 1957 at 7:30 P. M.
at the city hall with the following present:

Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order.
The invocation was brought by Rev. Robert Vreteau of Mary Immaculate Catholic
Church. The minutes were then read and approved as read.
COUNCILMAN BRODHEADtS RESIGNATION
City Manager Gray read a letter of resignation to the council from Councilman
Brodhead. He explained in his letter that his business in Houston had compelled
him to move there. The council accepted the resignation on a motion by Councilman
Wilsey, seconded by Councilman White.
HEALTH OFFICER ORDINANCE AMENDMENT 1 43
The following ordinance 143 , amending the Health Officer Ordinance, wqs
adopted by the council on a motion by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman White:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH CREATING THE OFFICE OF PUBLIC
HEALTH OFFICER, AND PRESCRIBING THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE HEALTH OFFICER;
FIXING THE POWERS AND DUTINS OF SUCH OFFICER; PROVIDING FOR MONTHLY REPORTS
TO BE MADE TO THE CITY COUNCIL; AND (REQUIRING FUNDS TO BE SET ASIDE FOR THE
OPERATION OF SUCH OFFICE.
GARBAGE ORDINANCE AMENDMENT #144
The garbage ordinance amendment #144 is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION OF
GARBAGE, REFUSE AND OTHER WASTE MATTER BY THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT OF THE
CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH, AND PROVIDING THAT THE DIRECTOR OF SUCH DEPARTMENT
SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING DEFINITIONS; FIXING
CHARMS TO*BE MADE FOR SUCH SEVICE; REQUIRING CONTAINERS TO BE KEPT AND
REGULATING THE SAFE; PROVIDING FOR'DISPOSAL OF DEAD ANIMAIS; ACCUMULATION
OF CERTAIN WASTE MATTER PROHIBITED; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED
$200.00 FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
The motion to adopt this ordinance was made by Councilman Wilsey, seconded by
Councilman Reeder.

ENGINEERIS REPORT
Consultant engineer, Bob King, of the Joe J. Rady Co. reported the progress
in the paving of Bee Street and Richland Street. The Council authorized Joe J.
Rady Co. to proceed with paving and drainage plans for Havenhurst and Pepperwood
Streets. This motion was made by Councilman Wilsey, seconded by Councilman Reeder.
STREET MAINTINANCE PROGRAM
The council discussed with Engineer King and City Manager Gray, a beginning
program for street maintenance. Councilman White made a motion, seconded by
Councilman Reeder, authorizing City Manager Gray to take bids to buy street repair
equipment.
RANDY LANE REPAIR
On a motion by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman Wilsey, the council
authorized Engineer King to prepare an estimate on the cost to repair Randy Lane
from Veronica Lane to Austell Parkway.
MAIN THOROUGHFARES AND MASTER PLAN
The council informally discussed a master plan for the city and the main
thoroughfares into, through, and out of the city.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
