1958-01-06 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF COUNCILMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS JANUARY 6, 1958 1 The City Council met in a regular meeting on January 6, 1958 at the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Councilmen Engineer City Manager City Secretary Lawson Lewis Thomas Reeder H. N. Mallon Dewayne White John Wilsey Oley Attebery Bob King John J. Gray Naomi Goodnight Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order. The invocation was brought by Rev. Joe Rand, Pastor of The Covenant Presby- terian Church. The minutes were then read and approved as read. SWIMMING POOL BIDS OPENED The swimming pool bids were opened by Mayor Lewis and referred to Engineer King and City Manager dray for tabulation and recommendation. The bidders were: Paddock Engineering Co. of Texas $75,986.00 Cardinal Pools, Inc. $76,874.44 Corrick- Paddock Pools 109,070.00. REPORT ON PARK SITE City Manager Gray reported that "ato Corp. was willing to sell approximately 10 acres of the Cun Club site in Valwood Park at their land cost and interest and actual cost of paving and utilities. The council authorized Manager Gray to proceed with final negociation. SPECIAL PERMIT ZONING ORDINANCE After Manager Gray read a letter accompanying the special permit zoning ordi- nance,in which the attorney advised the council to defer action until the owners of the property have furnished the city the necessary deeds for dedication of property and have also furnished the city with copies of restrictions to be filed of record with the Councy Clerk, the ordinance was tabled until the owners of the property comply with the attorney's suggestion. ENGINEER AND CONTRACTOR ESTIMATES The council approved payment of the following statements, by motion made by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman Wilsey: Community Building Taylor and Beckham $17,632.00 103 Richland Storm Sewer O'Neal Construction Co. $21,108.03 Joe J. Rady Co. Engineers 1,122.28. ARCHITECT REPORT City anger Cray reported to the council that the architect has notified us that we have $657.00 credit from the total cost of the Community Building. The council approved a change order on the doors and parking. COMMERCIAL SEWER RATE ir. Lott and Mr. Brown, owners of the Speed Washateria, were present to ask the council to change the commercial sewer rate in their favor. The council said after considerable study, they believed the commercial serer rate was fair and would not be changed. FARMERS BRANCH ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Bob Langdon, publicity director of the Farmers Branch Athletic Association , explained the athletic program to the council and asked for their approval of this program by letter.
