The City Council met in a regular meeting at the City Hall on March 3, 1958
at 7:30 P. M. with the following present:

Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order,
Rev. Henry Moyer, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, brought the invo-

cation. The minutes were then read and approved as read.
FIRE PRO'T'ECTION ORDINANCE #145 ON COUNTY FIRE FIGHTING
On a motion duly made and seconded, the council approved a county rural
fire fund contract providing $2500.00 to the City of Farmers Branch to fight
fires in the appointed county area surrounding the city. This contract is in
ordinance form and is for one year.
MINISTERS RECOMMENDATION ON SUNDAY POOL HOURS
The Ministeral Association talked with City Manager Gray about the hours
the swimming pool would be open on Sunday. The hours from. 1:00 P. M. to 6:00 P. M.
was recommended. The council agreed on these hours.
RECREATION PROGRAM
The City Council instructed Recreation Director Nolan Poovey to proceed
with the organization of the city's recreation program. The council was especially
interested in getting the baseball program started. Councilman Attebery was
appointed to select five men to serve on a recreational advisery committee.
BALLFIELD LIGHTING CONTRACT
On a motion made by Councilman Attebery, seconded by Councilman Mallon
the council awarded a contract for lighting the baseball and football field
to W. J. Thomas & Co,, Inc., at a bid price of $7,870.90.

CONTRACTOR'S AND ENGINEER'S ESTIMATES
On a motion made by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman Wilsey,
the council approved payment of the following estimates:
1. Cullum Construction Co.--$15,473.61--Work on 16" feeder main in Spring Valley
and Valwood Parkway.
2. O'Neal Construction Co.--$5458-75--Work on street improvements and storm
drains in portions of Richland St. and Bee St.
3. Paddock of Texas-410,,994.61-Work on swimming pool which is 10.1972% complete.
4. Joe J. Rady Co.--$324.95, $114.63, and $429.00 Engineering fees.
SEWER EASEMENTS
The council discussed the sewer easements and instructed Attorney Nichols
to proceed with plans to secure the necessary right-of-way needed by the city.
BOUNDARYMAP
Engineer Bob King and City Planner Bob Hollin Presented the council with
a west boundary map of the proposed city limits showing the drainage. The council
then instructed attorney Nichols to settle the boundary with Carrollton and to
go to court if necessary.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
The council confirmed City Manager Gray's appointment of Thomas Standridge
to the position of administrative assistant.
STREET DEPARTMENT
The council voted to replace clothing and pay doctor bill for two small
boys who were burned by hot tar in a minor accident in the street department.
AUDITORS PROVING BUDGET
City Manager Gray reported that Auditor R. B. Smith, is now proving the
budget to date.
RESOLUTION PLACING FARMERS BRANCH ON TEXAS HIGHWAY MAP
On a motion by Councilman Attebery, seconded by Councilman White the council
passed a resolution asking the Texas Highway Department to put Farmers Branch on
their Texas map.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
