The City Council met in a regular meeting on March 17, 1958 at 7:30 P. M-
at the City Hall with the following present:

Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order. The invocation was brought by

Barnev Stewart. The minutes were then read and approved as read.
RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Councilman Attebery's recommendations for a Redreation Advisory Committee were
approved by the council on a motion by Councilman White, seconded by Councilman
Mallon. The committee consists of Howard Tiemann, Neil Bentson, Bill Cloud, °
Marshall Curry, and Bill Davis with Councilman Attebery acting as permanent chair-
man. Councilman Attebery said this committee would recommend rules and regulations
pertaining to the activities in sports and games, serve as a credential committee
act as a board of appeals, lend help to Recreational Director Nolan Poovey and
work with him on the official park opening and will make recommendations on
recreational needs to the council. The council complimented Councilman Attebery
on this job well done.
CITY PLANNER REPORT
City Planner Bob Hollin made a report to the council on the following:
1. Proposed street design standards and recommended conversion
design for Dennis and Valwood.
2. Platting rules and regulations.
3. Platted lot area study.
4. Questionaires for mailing.
5. Rawhide Creek Parkway, recommended plan to Hexter's letter.
b. Alternate Highway route.
7. Zoning cases scheduled for hearing.

Progress report.
Mr. Hollin requested authorization from the council to send the questiongire
to all fgmilies in the city. These questionaires pertained to the future
planning of the city. The council granted this request by motion made by Council-
man White, seconded by Councilman Reeder.
The Council authorized City Manager Gray to answer Mr. Hexter's letter pertaining
to Rawhide Creek development and to consult Attorney Nichols and Mr. Hollin.
EARNHART SHOPPING CENTER ORDINANCE #146
On a motion by Councilman White, seconded by Councilman Reeder, the council
passed Ordinance # 146 which will permit W. L. Earnhart to build a shopping center
on 30 acres of property located at the intersection of Valley View Lane and Dennis
Road. The Ordinance captAon reads as follows:

SUNBECK CIRCLE PETITION
The people of Sunbeck Circle submitted a petition pertaining to water
and sewer in that area. The council asked Engineer Bob King to restudy the plans
for the water and sewer lines that would serve that area.
6" WATER LINE ON VALLEY VIEW WEST
Mrs. Tompie Dyer requested the City to lay a 6" water line on West Valley
View Lane across Chicago Rock Island Railroad. The Council felt that $2,000.00
for a 6" main at this time was too much on the city budget.
CIVIL DEFENSE REPORT
Sam Page, Director of the Civil Defense program reported that the beginning
class for First Aid in Civil Defense would be held on March 27, 1958, at the
Farmers Branch school.
BUDGET REPORT
After hearing a report on the city's financial condition as prepared by
the city auditor, the council authorized City Manager Gray to use the interest
earned on investments of City Funds for park and recreational purposes,
CONTRACTORS AND ENGINEERS ESTIMATES
On a motion by Councilman Reeder, seconded by Councilman Mallon, the
council approved payment on the following estimates:
1. Taylott and Beckham $4,062,00 Community Building
2. Paddock Engineering of Texas $2,863.45 Swimming Pool.
BID FOR FENCING BASEBALL FIELD
The council accepted a bid of $1500.00 from J. D. Cox Fence Co. for fencing
the baseball field in the park. This motion was made by Councilman Mallon,
seconded by Councilman Attebery,
