APRIL 7, 1958
The City Council met in a regular meeting at the 8ity Hall on April 7, 1958
at 7:30 P. M. with the following present:

Mayor Lewis called the meeting to
order.
Rev. Bourdon Smith, pastor of Christ Methodist Church, brought the invoca-
tion. The minutes were then read and approved as read with three corrections.
First: March 24, 1958 meeting, section 10 of the Lennon Avenue Baptist Church
rezoning should read --The front wall of the building be extended as a wing wall
to screen parking from the street.
Second: March 26, 1958 meeting, concerning the new Donald H. ShowmanMemorial Park;
that a temporary sign be put up with the name of the park on it until a permanent
one could be made.
Third: March 17, 1958 meeting; that the 6" water line west on Valley View across
Chicago Rock Island Railroad, cost was $12,000.00 instead of $2,000.00.
CANVASS ELECTION
The returns from the election fudges were opened by Mayor Lewis and the
results read. A motion to approve the returns as read was made by Councilman Mal-
lon, seconded by Councilman Reeder. All voted for approval.
A motion was then made by Councilman Wilsey, seconded by Councilman Reeder
declaring the winners as follows:

Dewayne White 174 votes.

All voteA approval of this motion.
A motion was then made by Councilman Wilsey, seconded by Councilman Mallon
declaring the results of Place 1 and Place 4 for a run-off election.

All approved this motion.
Mayor Lewis will call a run-off election to be geld on the second Saturday

following, which is April 19, 1958. The same election judges and clerks were
appointed for the run-off election by a motion made by Councilman Attebery, sec-
onded by Councilman Mallon. All approved. The council then authorized the City
SLcretary to make arrangements for the rental of the voting machine, on a motion
by Councilman Mallon, seconded by Councilman Attebery. All approved.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH AUTHORIZING
BB IT ORDAINED B UN CITY COUNCIL OF TIM CITY 07

SECTION I. That hereafter any employee of a: public
utility corporation enjoying a franchis=e from the City of Farmers
Branch shall, be authorized to serve on the City Council of the
Cite if duly elected and qualified, and, the same shall not be
construed to violate Section 9.01 of the Charter of the City.
SECTION 2. That the City Secretary be, and she is hereby
authorised to collect public utility bills for a public utility
corporation enjoying a franchise from the City of Farmers Branch,
and she is. authorized to receive compensation from such corpora-
tion for such services; and further, such action shall not be
construed to violate section 9.41 of the Charter of the City.
S ION 3_ The fact that the Charter of the City limits

ENGINEER'S a.-PORT
Engineer Bob King reported that the right-of-way easements still had not
all been secured for the trunk sewer line in the Farmers Branch Creek area.
Wallace Skinner, Mrs. Ruth Cox and the Hughes Estate would not sign the easements.
On a motion by Councilman Wilsey, seconded by Councilman Attebery, the council
authorized Attorney Nichols to start condemnation procedures if there was on other
alternative. All approved.
CITY PLANNER'S REPORT
City Planner,Bob Hollin, reported that the master plan for the Rawhide Creek
Parkway was satisfactory with Air. Louis Hexter. The council then approved the
prelimenary plat of the revised parkway plan on a motion by Councilman Mallon,
seconded by Councilman Reeder. The city plan commission:?recommended the Cato
Corp. adopt this revised parkway plan and that the platting be generally in
conformance with that shown on the adopted plan. City Planner Bob Hollin,report-
ed that the city plan commission had adopted all the conditions listed on the
Cato Apartment Plan.
ARTICLE 1X,SECTION 9.019 CITY CHARTER
After much discussion on Section 9.01 of Article 1X, of the City Charter,
the council passed the following ordinance on a motion by Councilman Reeder,
seconded by Councilman Mallon:

Mr. Louis Storey met with the council to ask permission tip put a sign on
the Valwood Baptist Church property at Valwood and Josey Lane, advertising
hie Storey Homes for sale. In accordance with the zoning ordinance, this sign
could not be placed at that location. The Council then authorized City Manager
Gray to enforce the zoning ordinance and have all other signs removed that dial
conform with the ordinance.
There being no farther business, the meeting adjourned.
