1961-11-20 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING CITY COUNCIL FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS November 20, 1961 The City Council met in a regular session on November 20, 1961 at the Community Building at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Mayor Oley E. Attebery Councilmen Sam Page H. N. Mallon Don Knox Bill Hamilton City Manager J. M. Orman Assistant City Manager John C. Dodson City Secretary Dorthanna Williams Councilman John Wilsey was absent. Mayor Attebery called the meeting to order. Mr. Jack Ramsay, Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church, gave the invocation. APPOINTMENT TO PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION Upon a motion by Councilman Hamilton, seconded by Councilman Knox, all voting "ayes", Mr. R. W. Holman, 3148 Brookhollow Drive, was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission to replace Mr. Dave Hannum. APPROVE SITE PLAN OF CENTRAL BANK AND TRUST COMPANY City Manager Orman said, verbal approval of this site was obtained from each Councilman individually on November 8, official confirma- tion is needed for the records. Councilman Knox moved approval of the site plan as presented, seconded by Councilman Mallon, all voting "ayes". ORDINANCE NO. 311 - STREET PROJECT NO. 5 Upon a motion by Councilman Mallon, seconded by Councilman Page, all voting "ayes", an ordinance was passed releasing $2,157.02 previously allocated to improving Dennis Road between Valley View Lane and Raw- hide Parkway. This project has been completed and the actual con- struction costs underran the funds which were appropriated. Caption of the ordinance: AN ORDINANCE RELEASING FUNDS APPROPRIATED TO STREET PROJECT NO. 5; RETURNING THESE FUNDS TO THE STREET IMPROVEMENT BOND FUND UNAPPROPRIATED SURPLUS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Page 15 METROPOLITAN MEDICAL CENTER SITE PLAN A site plan of the proposed medical center was presented for the Council's consideration. In discussion and study of the plans the Councilmen expressed them- selves as being well pleased with the changes in the arrangement of the buildings in the center. Councilman Mallon moved, examine and approve building lay-out and site plan, subject to all ordinances of the City and subject to all provisions in the special permit for the medical center; seconded by Councilman Knox; all voting "ayes". NEW NAME FOR JOSEY LANE The Council asked the City Manager to get a committee from residents on Josey Lane to select a name for Josey Lane and ask Mr. I.P. Menendez to head this committee. SITE FOR COUNTY COURT HOUSE The Council agreed on approval of a site in Valwood Shopping Center for the County Sub Court House for this area. (Farmers Branch, Carrollton and Addison area) MISCELLANEOUS Mayor Attebery asked the City Manager to try for a date when most members of the Council and the Plan Commission can get together for a joint meeting; (2) to follow through on sidewalk paving; (3) Mayor Attebery will be in New York from December 3 to December 20.
