1953-05-12 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS May 12, 1953 A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen was held at City Hall on May 123, 1953 at 7:30 P. M., with the following Aldermen present: Mayor Lawson Lewis H. TS. MgLllon J.W. Culpepper R. J. Knight Thomas Reeder Mayor Lewis presided and E. N. Kerr acted as secretary. CORPORATION JUDGE On motion made by Thomas Reeder, seconded by R. J. Knight , an ordinance was adopted appointing Mr. Arthur W. Clouston Corporation Judge at a salary of $1.00 per year. The salary is to be adjusted after the court has operated for a sufficient length of time to determine the amount of work involved. CLINIC REZONING After a public hearing and on motion made by H. N. Mallon, seconded by Thomas Reeder, a zoning ordinance was passed, which adopts zoning amend- ment #1. This amendment crests an "L" classification applicable to Lots 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, Block C, Farmers dell Addition permitting the erection of a clinic in that area. BOND ISSUE On motion made by R. J. Knight, seconded by J. W. Culpepper, it was unanimously agreed to enter into a contract with Mr. R. A. Underwood and Company and the Mercantile National Bank to handle the proposed bond issue after an election authorizing the same. VALLEY VIEW IMPROVEPENT Mayor Lewis reported that a contract has been made with Mr. Bill Christie to place the Valley View water lines on the north side of this street. Work will start as soon as Mr. Christie has completed work on a gas company contract in the same area. He also reported that Mr. Rasberry will issue a work worder immediately for work to commence on Valley View Lane. 6 ` On this 12th day of May, 1953, at 7:30 o'clock P. M., the City Council of the City of Farmers met in open session with a quorum present, pursuant to the previous issuance and publication of notice in accordance with Article 1011d and 1011f, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, in the Farmers Branch City Hall for the purpose of conducting a hearing on the proposed Amendment No.l to the City's Original Zoning Ordinance as set forth in said notice. The mayor called the meeting to order and announced that the purpose of the meeting was to conduct a hearing on the matters set forth in said notice and to give all persons interested an opportunity to be heard. After hearing and considering all facts, opinions and arguments presented by such persons, the City Council, upon proper motion and vote and by the enactment of a suitable ordinance confirmed the previous preliminary and final reports of the City's Zoning Commission recommending such amendment.
