1955-02-22 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS FEBRUARY 229 1955 The Board of Aldermen met in a regular meeting on February 22, 1955, at 7:30 PM at the City Hall with the following presents Mayor Lawson Lewis Aldermen R. J. Knight J. W. Culpepper Thomas Reeder Secretary Naomi Goodnight The minutes were read and approved. CITY MARSHAL Two applications were submitted to the Council for the office of City Marshal to finish the term of Everett Holt, who resigned. Those applying were P. A. Thornburg and C. M. Jones. DAY NURSERY ON HOLBROOK Mrs. H. L. Murphy presented a petition signed by residents of Holbrook Drive to the Zoning Commission asking permission for a day nursery being operated by Mrs. Murphy. COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION On a motion made by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Culpepper, the Council approved a contract with Dallas County to give fire protection to rural areas around the City of Farmers Branch. PETITION FOR ANNEXATION. HAWN TRACT #2 On a motion made by Mr. Knight, seconded by Mr. Culpepper, a petition to annex Tract #2 of Fritz Hawn Property, was accepted by the Council. PIPE ORDER On a motion made by Mr. Knight, seconded by Mr. Culpepper, the Council voted to place the order for the pipe to be used by the City in the future developments. This order is to be from Texas Vetrified Pipe Company. CURRENT BILLS On a motion made by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Culpepper the current bills were approved for payment. PIPE LINE LICENSE Resolution as follows: d' J R E S O L U T I O N ON THIS 22 DAY OF FEBRUARY , A. D. 1955, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH , DID CONVENE IN REGULAR SESSION WITH THE FOLLOWING DULY ELECTED MEMBERS PRESENT, TO-WIT: Thomas Reeder , Alderman J. W. Culpepper , Alderman R. J. Knight , Alderman Lawson Lewis , Mayor, presiding Naomi Goodnight, City Secretary WITH MORE THAN A QUORUM PRESENT, THE GOVERNING BODY DID, AMONG OTHER THINGS, TRANSACT THE FOLLOWING BUSINESSa a pipe line license, dated and effective 17th day of February, 1955, between the City of Farmers Branch and Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad Company of Texas, covering one eight- inch water line crossing said railroad company's premises at a point so described therein, was presented for the approval and acceptance of the City's governing body. Mr. Culpepper , presented a motion, seconded by Mr. Reeder , that the said license agreement be approved and accepted and that the Mayor and/or Mayor Pro Tem, and/or city manager, be authorized to execute and sign the said license agreement in and for the City of Farmers Branch. MOTION CARRIED.
