BOARD OF AIDERNEN
FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS
APRIL 12, 1955
The Council met in a regular meeting at 7:30 PM on April 12, 1955,
at the City Hall, with the following present:
Mayor Lawson Lewis
Aldermen R. J. Knight
J. W. Culpepper
Thomas Reeder
H. N. Mallon
Attorney J. G. Blanchette
The minutes were read and approved as read.
ENGINEER'S CONTRACT
Mr. Remsburg explained to the Council that a portion of the old
engineer contract was bj% instead of 7%.. therefore there was a refund
check for $593.80. The new contract was set up for $500,000 at 6%.
A motion was made by Mr. Mellon, seconded by Mr. Culpepper, to accept
this contract; all approved.
ESTIMATES
On a motion made by Mr. Knight, seconded by Mr. P,eeder, the contractors
and engineers estimates #1 were approved for payment. E. E. Farrow Company-
final water mains and appertananee on Denton Road: $10,427.30.
BAIN STREET TO SQUIRE PIACE
On a motion made by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Mallon, the Council
voted to change Bain Street to Squire Place The motion carried.
SCREENING WALL. VALLEY VIEW SHOPPING CENTER
The Council discussed a wall of some kind between the residents who
back up to the Valley View Shopping Center. Attorney Blanchette is to check
screening walls and then draw up a resolution to take care of the problem.
1AWN MOWER
On a motion by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Knight, the Council authorized
1"" Goodnight to purchase a lawn mower for the city mowing; this motion
carried.
E. F. SUMMERS REFUND
Mr. Mallon made a ftklei4, seconded by Mr. Culpepper to refund Mr.

E. F. Sumners the overpayment on water and sewer lines in Letha Lee
Heights Development. The motion carried.
CURRENT BILLS
On a motion made by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Mallon, the current
bills were approved for payment.
COUNTY BILL
The curbing of Valley view by the county still has a debt of $1090.38.
A motion by Mr. Culpepper, seconded by Mr. Knight that the City pay this
bill and clear the city account with the county. The motion carried.
FIRE HYDRANT & VALVE ORDINANCE
The Council discussed the missuse of fire hydrants and valves by
outsiders, other than City employees and firemen. On a motion by Mr.
Mallon, seconded by Mr. Knight, the Council approved an ordinance on Fire
Hydrants and Valves. The motion carried.
NEW STREET USAGE
An ordinance prohibiting the use of any new street before seven days,
was passed by a motion made by Mr. Mallon, seconded by Mr. Reeder.
PIPE LINE LICENSE

WITH MORE THAN A QUORUM PRESENT, THE GOVERNING BODY DID, AMONG OTHER
THINGS, TRANSACT THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS: a pipe line license agreement,
dated and effective April 1, 1955, between the City of Farmers Branch,
in Dallas County, State of Texas, and Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad

Company of Texas, covering installation of one 16-inch sanitary sever
pipe line across said railroad company's premises at a point so described
in said pipe line license, for account of the said City, was presented
for approval and acceptance.
Mr. Culyepmer,, made a motion, seconded by Mr. Mallon , that the
said pipe line license agreement herein above referred to, be approved
and accepted and that the Mayor, and/or Mayor Pro Tem, and/or City Manager,
be authorised to execute and sign the said license agreement in and for the
City of Farmers Branch.
MTION CARRIED.
