1955-08-09 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF AIDERMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS AUGUST 9, 1955 The Board of Aldermen met in a regular meeting on August 9, 1955, at the City Hall with the following present: Mayor Lawson Lewis Aldermen Thomas Reeder H. N. Mallon J. W. Culpepper R. J. Knight B. A. Marcom The meeting was opened by Mayor Lewis. The minutes were then read and approved as read. ADVERTISING SIGNS IN RESIDENTIAL AREA Mr. E. J. Taylor met with the Council to discuss advertising signs in residential areas. The Council turned this matter over to City Marshal C. M. Jones to contact the people not complying with the zoning ordinance on the section concerning signs, and have the dgns removed. CONTRACTORS AND ENGINEERS ESTIMATES Mr. Remsberg of Joe J. Rady Company presented the Contractors and Engineers Estimates now due. Contractors Estimates #4, #5, and #5-A in the amount of $31,986.44. Engineers Estimates $1252.61.. The motion was made by Mr. Mallon, seconded by lflx* Reeder to pay the current estimates now due. The motion carried. POLICE CRIEF APPLICATIONS Four application for Chief of Police were opened and read to the Council by Mayor Lewis. The applicants were: Walter Lee Grant W. L. Cox P. A. Thornburg Chester Powell The Council will meet in a special meeting ©n August 21+, 1955, to interview all applicants. FIRE EQMNENT Fire Chief R. L. Yager presented a list of fire equipment needed by the I Fire Department, which included hose, tarps, and two new sirens. Mr. Yager is to get price nand bids on all items needed and present same at the next Council Meeting. CURRENT BILLS The motion to pay the current bills was made by Mr. Culpepper, seonded by Mr. Reeder. This motion carried.
