1955-11-08 CC MinutesMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS NOVEMBER 8, 1955 The City Council met in a regular meeting at 7:30 P. M. at the City Hall on November 9, 1955 with the following present: Mayor Lawson Lewis Aldermen Thomas Reeder R. J. Knight H. N. Mallon J. W. Culpepper Fire Chief R. L. Yager Engineer Doc Remsburg Attorney J. Blanchette City Sec. Naomi Goodnight The minutes were read and approved. DENNIS ROAD AND FOREST LAND DISCUSSION Mr. Ford, Mr. Browley, Mr. Daniel and Mr. Getchey met with the Council and discussed the possibility of Dallas disannexing the area at the northwest section of Dennis Road and Forest Lane. They want this annexed to Farmers Branch because of the sewer and water drainage being in our area. These men are interested in a restricted brick home section on this property. The Council explained that the City of Farmers Branch could not annex any property without a petition by the owners but the Council told these-men as soon as possible that it would be checked into. GAS INSPECTION ORDINANCE Mr. Louis Marshal of the Lone Star Gas Company was told by the Council that the gas inspection ordinance would be ready the fourth Tuesday of November, 1956. GARBAGE SERVICE Mr. L. G. Moorte met with the Council to discuss garbage service on a commission basis. He is interested in purchasing a packer truck. Attorney Blanchette was asked to check into drawing up a garbage ordinance. ENGINFERIS ESTIMATES On a motion by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Culpepper the engineer's estimates and contrac%or's estimates now due were approved for payment. Engineers #7 $4219.74 Contractors #8a $7422.10 Contractors #8b $8125.00 8" I%IN CROSSING HIGHWAY On a motion by Mr. Mallon, seconded by Mr. Knight, the Council approved the laying of an 8" water line crossing Highway 77 and will be called Contractors Change Over P. SEWER TO DALLAS The Council held an open discussion on the sewer line that would tie into Dallas lines. STORAGE TANK Mr. Remsburg discussed with the Council the proper water storage for the city for fire protection as the city grows. FIRE DEPARTMENT Fire Chief R. L. Yager met with the Council to discuss the purchasing of some fire hose for the two trucks. Mr. Yager said the Fire Department needed 1500 feet of 2-" hose and 1200 feet of lp" hose, plus tarpolion, siren and nozzles. The Council authorized MME': Yager to get the best buy he can find and purchase these items. FIREDOOR The new firedoor estimated cost is $314.46. Mayor Lewis is to see about purchasing this door for the fire dept. DAY NURSERY ORDINANCE On a motion by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Culpepper, an ordinance was accepted by the Council on a Day Nursery on Holbrook and Valley View. PETITION BRIM PROPERTY & KNOX STREET PROPERTY Mrs, Jess Brin and Knox Street Construction presented a petition for annexa- tion of their property on Webb Chapel Road south of Valley View, to the city of Farmers Branch. On a motion by Mr. Mallon, seconded by Mr. Culpepper, the Council accepted this petition. CURRENT BILLS On a motion by Mr. Reeder, seconded by Mr. Mallon, the current bills were approved for payment.
