MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF
BOARD OF ALDERMEN
FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS
JANUARY 17, 1956
The City Council met in a special meeting on January 17, 1956 at
the City Hall with the following presebt:

FARMERS BRANCH-CARROLLTON RADIO
Carrollton Chief of Police Joe Allen met with the Council to discuss
Farmers Branch-Carrollton radio and fire calls to be handled through
their station. The Council recommended that they meet with the Carrollton
City Council Monday night, January 23, 1956.
FRIEDEN CALCULATOR
On a motion by Mr. Knight, seconded by Mr. Mallon, the Council agreed
to buy a Frieden Calculator and stand for taxes and engineering, ect.
LIGHTS ON NEW HIGHWAY
Mayor Lewis reported to the Council that the state will pay ~ the cost
of the lights on the new highway. The Mayor suggested that a letter of
requ6st be written to Mr. Aawthron on this lighting.
TAXI FRANCHISE
Mr. Cox and Mr. Chambers are to meet'with the Council January 24, 1956,
to discuss the franchise for taxi service in Farmers Branch.
INSURANCE ON GMC FIRE TRUCK
A motion was made by Mr. Reeder,seconded by Mr. Knight to renew the
insurance on the G. M. C. Fire Truck in the amount of $208.90.
ENGTNFEFIS ESTIMATES
Joe J. Rady, engineers, estimates of $230.15, $780.64 and $2744.85
were approved for payment on a motion by Mr. Mellon, seconded by Mr. Reeder.
CONTRACTORS ESTIMATES
E. E. Farrow, Contractor estimates were approved for payment in the
amount of $2700.01 and $95989.50 on a motion by Mr. Reeder, seconded by
'Kr. Mallon.
ENGINEER'S SURVEY ON WATER & SEWER
Mr. Mallon made the motion for Mr. Rady, engineer, to make a preliminary
survey on water and sewer for the City of Farmers Branch. This motion
was seconded by Mr. Reeder. All approved.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourndd.
