1956-11-19 CC MinutesI~ MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS NOVEMBER 19, 1956 A regular meeting of the City Council was held at the City Hall on November 19, 1956 at 7:30 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Lawson Lewis Aldermen Thomas Reeder Bayne Gibson H. N. Mallon Janes Brodhead John Wilsey City Adm. Jack Gray City Sec. Naonmi Goodnight The meeting was opened by prayer let by Alderman Gibson. The minutes were read and approved with one correction. The word "profit" should read "balance" in the paving of Wm. Dodson 1 Parkway. 20 SPEED LIMIT IN JOHNSTON PARK Mr. Ollie Atteberry met with the council and requested a 20 Mile Speed Limit in Johnston Park. The councilmen instructed Mr. Gray to make a traffic survey of the entire city. This motion was made by Alderman Wilsey, seconded by Alderman Reeder. CHARTER ELECTION Permission was asked by a group supporting the Charter to put signs on city property about the coming Charter Election. The council approved this permission. On a motion by Alderman Gibson, seconded by Alderman Mallon, a resolution to send all civic groups a letter asking support of the proposed Charter was passed unanimously. E CITY PARK Mr. Gray reported to the Council that the park was being cleared of poisen ivy, old brush, junk, etc. ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR Mr. Gray and Mayor Lewis talked with Mr. Norval, a Dallas electrical inspector, and arranged for Mr. Gentry to attend night school with the Dallas Electrical School. BILLING MACHINE Mr. Gray reported the new Burroughs billing machine had arrived and the current bills were being made on it. POLICE RESERVE The Police Reserve has been reorganized, centralizing the whole Police Department. WATER SPRINKLING The City Council passed a resolution amending the hourly water sprinkling from 8:00 P. M. to 8:00 A. M. but retained the alternate sprinkling day rule. This motion was made by Alderman Gibson, second by Alderman Mallon. DALLAS SEWER LINE Mr. Remsburg of Joe Rady Co. recommended Raymond Goodson as land surveyor for the route of the sewer line to tie into Dallas sewer lines. Mr. Remsburg also gave permission on the engineers part to let the Contractor, Clay P. Carey, sub-contract the laying of the line. The Council requested Bob King as resident engineer and inspector of this sewer line. ASSISTANT SECRETARY Mr. Gray reported that Miss Ruth Ann Beaver would be coming to work December 10, 1956, as Assistant City Secretary. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
