1974-04-22 CC MinutesCITY OF FARMERS BRANCH CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING April 22, 1974 All members of the City Council were present: Mayor George G. Grimmer Mayor Pro-Tem W. R. Linn Councilmen: Ray Flaherty Bill McClung Ken Quevreaux Bill Binford Members of the City Administration present were: City Manager Paul M. West City Attorney Doug McCallon Director of Staff Services Glenn A. Moore Secretary Ruth Ann Parish Mayor Grimmer called the City Council Special Meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. . Mayor Pro Tem W. R. Linn gave the invocation. CANVASS CITY ELECTION RETURNS AND PASS CANVASS ORDER RESOLUTION AND SWEAR INTO OFFICE THE ELECTED CANDIDATE. Mayor Grimmer declared that one copy of the election returns of the City Council Run-Off Election held on April 20, 1974, the poll list, and the tally list had been delivered to him the night of the election, and had been in his possession since that time. Mayor Grimmer read the results of the election as follows: Place 4. Bill Binford 543 John D. Dodd 529 Upon a motion by Councilman Linn, a second by Councilman McClung, all voting "aye", passed a resolution order accepting the canvass of the election returns and declaration of the results of the April 20, 1974 City Council Run-Off Election, and that: It appearing that Bill Binford received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilman, Place 4, and he is hereby declared to be elected to said office to serve after qualifying until the regular municipal election in 1976, and until his successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified. Page 854. Mayor Grimmer administered the oath of office to Councilman Binford. 1 1 1 ELECT MAYOR PRO-TEM. A motion by Councilman McClung, a second by Councilman Binford, all voting "aye", elected W. R. Linn as Mayor Pro-Tem. A motion by Councilman Binford, a second by Councilman Quevreaux, all voting "aye", adjourned the Special meeting of the City Council at 6:35 P.M. . ADJOURNMENT.
