1973-04-09 CC MinutesCITY OF FARMERS BRANCH CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING April 9, 1973 Members of the City Council present were: Mayor George G. Grimmer Mayor Pro-Tem W. R. Linn Councilmen: Ray Flaherty Bill McClung Ken Quevreaux Bill Binford Members of the Administration present were: City Manager Paul M. West City Secretary J. W. Wade Secretary Ruth Ann Parish CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF CITY COUNCIL ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 7, 973. Mayor Grimmer declared that one copy of the election returns of the City Council election held on April 7, 1973, the poll list, and the tally list had been delivered to him the night of the election , and had been in his possession since that time. Mayor read the results of the election as follows: Place I. Name Number of Votes Raymond G. Flaherty 314 Rodney G. Nelson 194 Place 3. Ken Quevreaux 374 James D. Proffitt 112 Place 5. William R. Linn 335 Jack M. Pugh 141 Upon a motion by Councilman Binford, a second by Councilman McClung, all voting "aye", adopted a resolution declaring the results of the City Council election held on April 7, 1973 for the election of three Councilmen, and that: It appearing that Raymond G. Flaherty received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilman, Place 1, and he is hereby declared to be elected to said office to serve after qualifying until the regular municipal election in 1975, and until his successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified. Page 610- It appearing that Ken Quevreaux received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilman, Place 3, and he is hereby declared to be elected to said office to serve after qualifying until the regular municipal election of 1975, and until his successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified. It appearing that William R. Linn received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilman, Place 5, and he is hereby declared to be elected to said office to serve after qualifying until the regular municipal election of 1975, and until his successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified. Mayor Grimmer administered the oath of office to Councilman Flaherty, Councilman Quevreaux, and Councilman Linn. ADJOURNMENT Upon a motion by Councilman McClung, a second by Councilman Binford, all voting "aye", adjourned the City Council meeting of April 9, 1973 at 6:40 P.M..
