Mayor Pro Tem Davis presided and called the meeting to order
at 7:30 P.M..
INVOCATION.
Councilman Moses gave the invocation and led the pledge of
allegiance to the flag.
CANVASS THE RESULTS OF THE CHARTER AMENDMENT ELECTION HELD
JANUARY 21, 1989 AND TAKE THE APPROPRIATE ACTION.
Mayor Pro Tem Davis read the canvass statement. "I, Mayor Pro
Tem Calla Davis, declare that I have had in my possession the
following items since the close of the polls at 7:00 P.M.,
January 21, 1989, one copy of the election returns, one copy
of the poll list, and one copy of the tally list.

The votes for each Proposition are as follows:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
Shall Article II, Sections 2.01 and 2.02, of the City Charter
be amended to provide a single-member districting plan whereby
four Councilmembers are limited to being elected from
districts in which they reside exclusively by the voters of
such district and the Mayor and one Councilmember may reside
in any district within the City and be elected at large by the
voters of the entire City?

A motion by Councilman Binford, a second by Councilman Moses,
all voting "aye", adopted Resolution No. 89-010, "Canvass of
the returns and declarations of the results of an election
held in the City of Farmers Branch, Texas, on January 21,
1989, for the election of City Charter Amendments.

Mr. Ray Flaherty, 13220 Challaburton, complimented the news media,
the members of the City Council and all those that were involved
and worked to get the information out to the citizens; and the
citizens who came out to vote.
ADJOURNMENT.
A motion by Councilman Moses, a second by Councilman
voting "aye", adjourned the Special Council Meeting
1989 at 7:40 P. .
