Mayor Phelps opened the meeting at 8:01 a.m.
CANVASS THE ELECTION RETURNS OF THE MAY 6, 2000 CITY COUNCIL
ELECTION AND TAKE THE APPROPRIATE ACTION.
Mayor Phelps presented the following information for consideration. The
following actions will be taken to canvass and certify the results of the May
6, 2000 City Council Election:
1. The Mayor reads the canvass statement in Resolution No. 2000-075.
The votes for each candidate are as follows:

2. The City Council adopts Resolution No. 2000-075.

It appearing that Calla Davis received a majority of the votes cast for the
office of Councilperson, Place 3, and is hereby declared to be elected to said
office to serve after qualifying until the regular municipal election in 2003,
and until a successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified.
It appearing that Jim Robbs received a majority of the votes cast for the
office of Councilperson, Place 5, and is hereby declared to be elected to said
office to serve after qualifying until the regular municipal election in 2003,
and until a successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified.
A motion by Councilperson Bird, seconded by Councilperson Moses, with all
voting "aye", adopted Resolution No. 2000-075 canvassing the returns and
declarations of the results of an election held in the City of Farmers Branch
on the 6th day of May, 2000, for the election of two Councilpersons.
3. Oath of Office administered by Mayor Phelps.
Mayor Phelps administered the oath of office to Jim Robbs to serve the
office of Councilmember, Place 5.
Mayor Phelps administered the oath of office to Calla Davis to serve the
office of Councilmember, Place 3.
4. Presentation of Certificates of Election.
Mayor Phelps presented a Certificate of Election to Councilman Robbs.
Mayor Phelps presented a Certificate of Election to Councilwoman Davis.
ELECT MAYOR PRO TEM AND A DEPUTY MAYOR PRO TEM.
A motion by Councilman Robbs, a second by Councilman Bird, all voting
"aye", elected Councilman Bill Moses to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, and
Councilwoman Calla Davis to serve as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem.

ADJOURNMENT.
A motion by Mayor Pro Tern Moses, a second by Councilwoman Davis, all
voting "aye", adjourned the special meeting of May 9, 2000 adjourned at
8:20 a.m.
