APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of a regular meeting, December 18, 1967 and a
regular meeting, January 15, 1968, were considered and approved.
ORDINANCE NO. 709 - DELETE FROM FIRST FIRE DISTRICT
Upon a motion by Councilman Doty, a second by Councilwoman
Broadhurst, all voting "ayes", the following captioned ordinance
was passed: (a portion of Josey Square)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS, DELETING THE
PROPERTY HEREIN DESCRIBED FROM THE FIRST FIRE DISTRICT REGULA-
TIONS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
SALE OF BONDS
Upon a motion by Councilwoman Broadhurst, a second by Councilman
Doty, all voting "ayes", the Council authorized the sale of the
following bonds:
$1,500,000 General Obligation Bonds:
Police Department Bonds $300,000
Park & Recreation Bonds 275,000
Fire Department Bonds 60,000
Street Improvement Bonds 865,000
$1,000,000 Revenue Bonds:
Water System Improvement Bonds 500,000
Sewer System Improvement Bonds 500,000

Mr. Lewis Lyne, the City's Fiscal Agent, presented three plans
for the sale of bonds: (1) advertise for bids, (2) warehouse
bonds for two years, and (3) sell to a syndicate underwriting
group. After much discussion Councilman Bradford moved to
accept an offer from the underwriting group for an effective
rate of interest of 4.78% on the General Obligation Bonds and
4.87% on the Revenue Bonds, seconded by Councilman Grimmer, all
voting "ayes".
SALARY SCALE FOR DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION
City Manager Orman explained that the budget provided for a
salary of $749 per month for 11 months for this position. He
had interviewed three prospective candidates and had found one
whom he considered best qualified, a graduate of Texas Tech in
Park Management. He asked the Council's approval to start him
at $790 with 5% merit increases after each 12 months of service.
After discussion Councilman Roberts moved approval of the request,
seconded by Councilwoman Broadhurst, all voting "ayes".
