1968-02-21 CC MinutesCITY OF FARMERS BRANCH MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL February 21, 1968 The following members of the City Council were present: Mayor A. J. Airoldi Mayor Pro-Tem Addison Bradford, Jr. Councilmen George Grimmer Alma Broadhurst Bill Roberts, Jr. City Manager J. M. Orman Councilman Doty was absent. Others present were: Bob Langdon Mrs. Tompie Dyer Consulting Engineers Bob King Derrell Johnson VALLEY VIEW LANE RIGHT-OF-WAY - STREET PROJECT NO. 62 After discussion of how new right-of-way lines affected properties of Dr. Katz, Mrs. Goldstein and Mobil Oil, Rady and Associates was instructed to draw revised plans between Goodland and Irondale to show full section of paved street and vary right-of-way line in order to miss buildings on north side. Council Committee of Roberts and Grimmer were appointed to work with Rady and Associates; Councilwoman Broadhurst wished to be kept informed. The Council ordered delay on condemnation suits for Kammerer, Cox, Pollman and Knight until decision on the above is reached. ADJOURNED - 9:00 P.M. _J.__Airol Mayor t 1 CAI . M. Orman, City Manager Page 37 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH March 9, 1968 The City Council of the City of Farmers Branch held a special called meeting at 10:00 A. M. on Saturday, March 9, 1968, at the City Hall. Present: Mayor Airoldi, Councilwoman Broadhurst and Councilmen Bradford, Roberts, Grimmer and Doty. Absent: None. City Attorney Nichols was appointed to act as Secretary of the meeting. The Mayor announced that the meeting was a closed meeting for the purpose of discussing the relationship between the City Manager and the City Council and to discuss methods of improving communications between the City Manager and the City Council and between members of the City Council. The meeting was called at the request of Councilwoman Broadhurst and Councilmen Bradford and Roberts. Councilwoman Broadhurst stated that she wished the record to show that she felt that there was need for stronger and firmer leadership from both the City Manager and the City Council. Councilman Bradford stated that he wanted the record to show that he was in favor of better communications between the City Manager and Council and that the Council should back the City Manager. Mr. Bradford further stated that he would not FA Page 38 under any condition at this meeting vote to terminate the City Manager, but that he did want to talk to the City Manager regarding his duties.
