September 27, 1965
The following members were present:

Mayor Pro-Tem Bill Hamilton
Councilmen Ed Rhodes
Dick Myers
James Upfield
City Manager J. M. Orman
Councilman Tippitt was absent.
Other present were: Mrs. Dyer, Gordon Rose, Bob Langdon, A. C.
Bishop and Joe Hollingsworth
DALLAS COUNTY JUNIOR COLLEGE
The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing a proposed
site for Dallas County Junior College in this area.
Mr. Gordon Rose, Manager of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce
and Chairman of the Northwest Site Committee, presented the plan
for selection of sites throughout the County; also for the selec-
tion of the northwest site. Site proposed was a 200 acre tract
immediately west of the river on the north side of Valley View
Lane. Furnishing water and sewerage facilities to the site was
then discussed, the discussion centering around obtaining Federal
grants to help defray some of the expense of extending the lines.
The Council also discussed the possibility of annexing the site
and surrounding area to Farmers Branch, provided Irving would re-
lease it from its first reading. Mr. Rose was appointed to arrange
a meeting between city officials of Farmers Branch and Irving.
PURCHASE OF 48-INCH CONCRETE PIPE
In answer to an invitation to bid on 120 feet of 48-inch concrete
culvert pipe, two identical bids were received from Gifford-Hill
Pipe Company and Hydro Conduit Corporation - $1,017.60. Names
were placed in a hat and Hydro Conduit Corporation's name was
drawn and was awarded the bid upon a motion by Councilman Myers,
a second by Councilman Upfield, all voting "ayes".
